Search Engine Optimisation Check List
We have provided a list of Search Engine Optimisation Tips.
Capitalise
Google keeps capitalisation information and capitalised keywords are given slightly more weight. Go over all page elements and capitalize the keywords, wherever applicable. Capitalise your Titles, Alt image Tags, Anchor Title Tags, Anchor Texts etc.
Write your Alt Image Tags,
Don't leave an image without an Alt Image Tag. Use your keywords in the Alt Image Tags. Capitalise. Check your site all over for images without alt tags.
Write your Anchor Title Tags
All your links should use anchor title tags with keyword rich descriptions. Links should be written as:
<a href="keyword1-keyword2.htm" title="keyword rich description">keyword rich anchor text</a>
Use simple Text Navigation
Search engines don't recognise text on images. Use keyword rich text links for navigation.
Rewrite your Anchor Texts
On page links with your keywords increase the relevancy of the page the links are placed on. If you have a page about animal behaviour, use links such as "Animal Behaviour Info", "About Animal Behaviour", "Animal Behaviour Articles".
Bold your Keywords Wherever applicable, bold your keywords. Bolded on page text carries more weight. Note: bolded links don't help.
Rework your Title
If you page targets a short keyword phrase, use two instances of your keywords in your page title. That will help a lot.
Use more Keyword Phrases
Think about including more keyword phrases throughout your page. Use direct phrases, because they carry a lot more weight. Example: use "Search Engine optimisation" instead of "Search Engine …some words.. optimisation".
Utilise your Comment Tags
Comment tags are used to make notes on your pages. They're hidden in the HTML code and so are not visible to your visitors, but some search engines, such as Inktomi, can index them. That means comment tags are another great way to add keywords to your site, thus increasing keyword frequency, an important factor in many ranking algorithms.
Search engines don't penalise sites using comment tags to boost keyword frequency. However, the general rule is not to repeat the same keyword in a tag. So, to be on the safe side, follow that rule when using comment tags to optimise your pages.
